Just picked up a lightly used ZX14R. I am very tall with a 36" insteam and drastically need to lower and push back my pegs. I would prefer to go the rearset route as normal pegs feel squishy and I want GP shift. I have the Driven rearsets on my ZX10R which are great but way over priced at $500+. Plus I am worried about what exhaust to get. Clearly the stock one has to go ASAP but I want a full system that will not get in the way of rearsets dropped and moved back 2". Right now with stock everything my feet are basically on the stock exhaust I can't believe how close the stock pegs/exhaust are.

Also while I'm getting a full exhaust I might as well ask you guys what to do as far as fueler/flash? I don't mind doing Power Commander, Juicebox or a flash. Just not sure what is giving people the best results. On the ZX10R the fueler does almost nothing compared to the flash. Not sure if it's the same on the 14. I greatly appreciate all opinions and suggestions I can't wait to actually be able to ride this thing comfortably.

Go to zx1441r.com and order a Brock's exhaust from Lee Pritchard (smokinzx14). He'll give you a great deal. Also, go to Ninja zx14 forum. There's a guy on there that reflashes your ECU. He does the air/fuel mixture, timing, speed limiter, etc. You'll never need a power commander again. I think pc's are soon to be a thing of the past.

Can anybody chime in how the Brocks is for clearance? The most important thing for me in the exhaust is leg room. I ordered the Murphs 1.5" lowered pegs and based off how that performs I might get the TWW rear set relocator. 2 Brothers and Yoshimura appear to have some of the cheaper options for full exhaust systems.

I think i remember my murphs pegs hitting the stock heat shields. I wound up just taking the rubbers of the stock pegs. Much better, gives a 3/4" drop. The murphs pegs will scrape if you corner hard, and definitely will if you lower the bike.

Brocks CT with the murphs pegs is about as low and back as you can go.

All rear sets are designed for the stock system...So every aftermarket will "FIT" in the stock location. Every exhaust system except for the sato high mount runs through the belly pan swing arm area. Which is right behind the rearsets. Sadly the sato is out of production and wasn't made for the 2012+ bikes.

The tab for the shift lever that the linkage connects to, hits the exhaust if you try to go all the way down and back. There's alot of shimming and exhaust pipe wiggling to get some clearance.

As you can see, that tab hits or scrapes right above the weld. Then there's the kickstand spring, shift rod, shift lever clearance. Vortex rearsets don't have this issue because of how the linkage connects to the shift arm. They also don't go down and back as far.

If you dont NEED rear sets. You could go this route..

I ordered the Murphs they come in tomorrow. But I definitely need a new exhaust because even with my size 13 boot on the stock peg almost my entire foot is resting on the heat shield of the exhaust. Its just in the way.

Looking at pictures I think the Yoshimura appears to give the most clearance. The Brocks appears to give the least but thats just using google image search. I can attempt to get a bracket that will push the exhaust down a tad. I most likely will order the TWW relocator and push the Murphs further down and back as well. I can't stress how long my stupid legs are.

As for clearance I can shim the rear spring up a tad and I doubt I would drag a peg before my knee. I get off the bike just fine and with my weight I don't need that much lean angle to get around the corners. If people are having clearance issues after dropping the pegs less than 2" my assumption would be their body position is crossed up in the corners.

I'm right there with ya, 6'4" with a 36" inseam. I'm 185 unsuited.

I don't think the yoshi pipe expands to a larger size which is why it looks like it has more room. Brocks are a larger diameter mid pipe.

I'm wondering if you would be better off going down and forward, not back.

Pushing down the exhaust at the rear, drops the bend at the collector.

The left side midpipe bend and the kick stand will scrape after the foot pegs. On the opposite the peg than the bump out on the lower fairing for the engine scrapes. That's with hitting the corners hard and trying to get to the edge of the tire.

The murph pegs scraped a shit ton, was too un nerving scraping my boot on the ground. Taking the rubbers off the stockers works better than you would think. I would just move my feet from my heels to the balls every so often on the pegs for long distance. I actually like the pegs back and up, it helps alot with having a long torso and laying on the tank. I almost want to mount the rear sets where the passenger pegs are, hahaha.

Yeah you need a dip right behind the rearset. But you still have only 4" wide area to run the pipe through.

I want to hear these too! I was looking at replacing my CT's with these cans, but i wanted to hear more than just their short clip on youtube.

Well the Murphs came in today and they are awesome. I also took the rubber off the OEM pegs before I saw the Murphs package and that did a ton as well. I hate the rubber it sticks to my feet and really messes with me when I'm changing body position. So if anybody is looking for just a tad more room I would highly recommend taking the rubber off.

I got a good local deal on Two Brothers Slip On exhaust so thats what I'm going with. I will report back about clearance. So far though I LOVE the murphs. I wouldn't use it for a track day but it was very comfortable for the 15 minutes I road around. Didn't even have to adjust my shift pedal. Shifting was actually much easier with the Murphs!

You could have a look at Knight Design.
They have 3/8 and 1 3/8 lowering pegs.
